Crank Trilogy by Ellen Hopkins

imagesCAZXQ2KP“Crank. Glass. Ice. Crystal. Whatever you call it, it’s all the same: a monster. And once it’s got hold of you, this monster will never let you go.”

Crank begins with a girl named Kristina choosing to visit with her father over summer vacation. She thinks that it will be a normal father to daughter hang out. What she finds instead are parties, drugs, cute boys, and a whole lot of trouble. Knowing that she has to go back to live with her mom at the end of the break she tells herself that the party scene would be a one time thing and it will never happen again. Who knew that one choice made during one summer vacation could change your entire life and future forever.

Kristina’s story continues in Glass by Ellen Hopkins. Kristina is still battling the monster and is slowly bringing her life down again. Now that Kristina has a child she is determined to make her own life decisions and run her life how she wants to. But when running her life her way becomes to hard she faces cravings for the monster. Drugs consume her life yet again but will her child be enough to stop the monster devouring her slowly?
Kristina’s story doesn’t stop there by a long shot! Her story carries on in Fallout by Ellen Hopkins! The battle with drugs has cost Kristina every relationship she has ever cared about. Kristina Snow now has 5 children, 3 of which don’t live with her. Hunter, Autumn, and Summer live in different homes, have different guardians and last names, but one thing in common. Their mother is Kristina Snow. Each individual doesn’t want to follow their mothers legacy and wonders if their will power will be enough to stop the monster from reaching their lives. Read Kristina’s children’s stories and learn that drug addiction is never just one persons problem.
The entire trilogy was fantastic and opened my eyes to the true horrors of drug addiction. Hopkins used many different life aspects to help the reader find similarities to their own lives. I loved how each novel showed   different perspectives on Kristina’s situation and insight on how it affected others. Crank, Glass, and Fallout by Ellen Hopkins were great! Below are more novels my Ellen Hopkins! Happy Reading and enjoy!
